What should I bring when selling my clothes?
Bring a valid photo ID and your clean, freshly laundered clothing, shoes & accessories. Please bring items in a grocery-size bag or small basket with no hangers. Smaller containers also make it easier for our team to handle your items.
What sizes do you buy and sell?
Women's Clothing: Bottoms sizes 00–30 and tops XS–6X.
Men's Clothing: Bottoms sizes 28–40 waist and tops XS–6X.
Selection varies daily based on what we buy and what's currently available in store.
What brands do you buy and sell?
We buy and sell popular brands and trending styles our customers are looking for. Some favorites include lululemon, ALO, Princess Polly, Coach, Gymshark, Zara, Brandy Melville, Kate Spade, Nike, Abercrombie & Fitch, Urban Outfitters, Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Free People, Victoria's Secret PINK and more.
What we're buying can change based on current trends, condition and our inventory needs.
What is your return policy?
Clothing may be returned within 7 days of purchase with the original receipt and original Plato's Closet price tags attached for a refund or store credit.
Clearance items and accessories—including footwear, handbags, scarves, wallets and jewelry—are FINAL SALE. Items purchased at another Plato's Closet location may be returned for store credit only.
Do I need an appointment?
No appointment needed! Bring your items to Plato's Closet El Cajon anytime during our buying hours. We're open Monday–Saturday 10AM–9PM and Sunday 11AM–7PM.
How are your items priced?
Our items are individually priced based on factors such as brand, style, condition, demand and current inventory. Our goal is to offer gently used fashion for up to 70% less than regular retail prices.
Seller offers are also based on each item's brand, style, condition and current demand. We can't provide estimates over the phone—items must be brought into the store for evaluation.
How do I get paid for the items you buy?
We pay cash on the spot or offer digital payouts through Venmo, PayPal or debit for the items we buy. Once our buyers finish reviewing your items, we'll make you an offer. If you accept, choose your preferred payout option—or trade with us the same day and receive 15% off your entire purchase.
What types of items do you buy?
We buy gently used clothing, shoes and accessories in great condition and current styles. We're looking for items our customers want now, including tops, denim, dresses, athletic wear, sneakers, handbags, jewelry and more. What we're buying can vary based on trends, condition and current inventory needs.
Do you buy clothes year-round?
Yes! Plato's Closet El Cajon buys all seasons year-round. You don't need to wait for a particular season to bring in your items. What we purchase depends on current trends, condition, demand and our inventory needs.
